To help our community get a glimpse of what it might be like to live in poverty, we’ve asked several high profile figures to take the Food Stamp Challenge. Each participant will agree to eat on a $21 food budget for the week, the equivalent of the average individual food stamp allotment in the United States.
Participants will begin the Challenge at 12 a.m. November 16, and end at 6:45 p.m. on November 22, just in time for the opening reception for Bloomington, Stand Up!, the week-ending fundraising event.
On Saturday, November 22, at 11 a.m., participants will gather in the City Council Chambers for a panel discussion about their experiences. All are welcome.
